Submitting Recordings

Musicians interested in putting out their recording on the Interventions series should contact Interventions administrator Matt Hannafin at matthannafin@earthlink.net.

Submissions will generally be accepted as long as they fulfill the following minimum qualifications:

  • The material fits within the general stylistic framework of the series: free improvisation, electronic/turntable/computer music, ambient, free jazz, composed New Music, spoken word, and other "out" forms
  • The material holds our interest
  • The material does not violate United States copyright law

How Interventions Works

Artists submit their finished recordings for consideration. If the work matches Sachimay's commitment to quality improvised/creative/New Music, the artist is informed by e-mail and asked to provide complete information for the disk's cover. Within a few days they'll be e-mailed a high-resolution jpeg of their Interventions cover that can be printed on any home printer using minimal ink. Musicians also receive recommendations for optimal paper weight, disk style, disk printing, and plastic outer sleeves, though they aren't bound by these. The total per-disk cost of manufacturing an Interventions release is between 40¢ and 65¢.

The disk is then added to Sachimay Interventions' online catalog and to Interventions press releases. Whether or not orders come flooding in depends on your definition of "flooding," but as the series grows and gains a following it becomes ever more likely that artists' will see their work reach a wider audience.

Musicians retain all intellectual property rights to the recording, save for copyright to the Sachimay Interventions series design. All sales orders that come through the Sachimay website are directed straight to the artist for fulfillment.
