Improvising pianist Dan DeChellis has performed in rock bands, traditional jazz settings and in classical recitals. He has performed alongside Gerry Hemmingway, Sabir Mateen, Peter Erskine, Masashi Harada, Tatsuya Nakatani and Bhob Rainey. In 1997 Dan released Shapes (Sachimay), a collection of improvisations and compositions for solo piano. Dan is active in New York's improvised and new music scenes and performs regularly at the Knitting Factory, ABC NO Rio, and the Internet Café. His Boston engagements have included shows at Scullers, The Middle East, The Green Street Grill, the Autumn Uprising Festival and the Zeitgeist Piano Festival.
